Coast to Coast for Cancer

Standard

MDM

I was introduced to the Million Dollar Marathon by my friend and manager of the Russell and Ann Gerdin American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Iowa City, Kelly Lamb. Kelly will be one of the many people participating in the event, which will begin on June 21st and cover 4,000 miles across America. One marathon at a time, the event will cross 15 states and more than 500 communities from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. Each day the team will run 4 marathons, for a total of 160 marathons – that’s l0,000,000 steps toward a cure for cancer. The event is being organized and presented by Above + Beyond Cancer, a public charity organized in 2011 to elevate the lives of those touched by cancer. In 2013, the organization is focused on reducing new cancer cases and cancer recurrence through programs that emphasize diet and vigorous physical exercise. I am honored that Kelly has included me among the people she will run for this summer. She blogged about my being a part of her team in her recent post: Experiencing the Emotions. Go Kelly!  Go Team!  Let’s make a difference and find a cure!
