Filling Petals with Sunshine

Today I am thinking about my friend, Diane, who is a very special flower in my life. This one is for you, my friend. May you never feel that you are a burden and hold tight to the belief that you are a beautiful gift.

Filling Petals with Sunshine

By Vicki Flaherty

Everyone you touch – in whatever way – is blessed.

You grace others’ lives in ways we may not see,

Like God’s little secret, the meaning in our lives

Is sometimes hidden below the surface –

Or maybe high above and out of reach, for now.

Each time you ask for help,

Each time you let someone give,

Each time you open yourself to another,

You exercise your power to create meaning.

Each time you lean into your vulnerability,

Your purpose unfolds,

Like a rosebud hungry to fill its petals with sunshine.

Credit for the beautiful unfolding rose goes to Carol at http://radiatingblossom.wordpress.com/2014/04/01/pink-rose-13/ – Thank you for the beauty you create for us!

About Vicki Flaherty

I feel most alive when I am creating, whether through my writing and poetry, gardening and photography, or simply living my life each day. Running and yoga enrich my being. Travel opens me to new possibilities and greater awareness. I am happiest when I’m with my husband Jim. I share my gratitude for all the gifts in my life on my This Abundantly Delicious Life blog. I find a special joy in helping people succeed. I’ve done something valuable when I’ve helped a colleague or friend see their brilliance and express their full potential. I have awesome opportunities to do this as an industrial/organizational psychologist through leadership, mentoring, coaching, career and other talent programs. I try to encourage Leading with Intention at my blog of this name. As a breast cancer survivor, I found comfort and hope in writing. Poetry flowed through me like a river of healing during my diagnosis and treatment, which I share on my Mostly My Heart Sings blog, that I might offer encouragement and a place of grace and heart for those seeking comfort and hope along their journey.

    • Sheila, great to see you here. (And, no, I have not forgotten how delinquent I am in rescheduling a call for us to catch up!). I look forward to the TED@IBM talks being available. How cool you are local enough to be there live. Humanity at work – now that’s something I stand for!
